SNY SPOTLIGHT: Willens

Willens is a young creative and lifestyle photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria. Some of his works include photography for fashion week, top Nigerian concerts and weddings. He has photographed the likes of Cardi B, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Made Kuti, Falz, Uzoamaka Aniunoh and many more. Willens is currently documenting the ongoing revolution of Nigerian youths at protest grounds through his photography.

Tell us a little background about yourself

My name is Williams (Willens) Anuoluwapo. I am a lifestyle photographer currently based in Lagos, Nigeria. I am a graduate of theatre and film studies from Redeemers university.

How did photography start for you?

I started learning and shooting in my second year in the university become I starting professionally in 2019.

What are some of the challenges you faced while starting up as a photographer?

Being able to afford gears, getting clients and also getting a place to shoot were challenges I faced Starting off as a photographer.

What are some of the things that pisses you off as a photographer?

I dislike how clients(people) devalue the art of creatives, not paying properly, photographers and other creatives not given their full credits for their work. Also, how the country is set up generally.

Who are your photography influences?

I’m influenced majorly by music, movies and the art of other creatives.

What excites you as a photographer?

I’m excited about my art I love to create, I love to collaborate and meet creatives. I’m excited about what the future holds for me. I have been seeing a lot of progress in my work and my life in general as a creative.
